Garcia Design, Inc. provided landscape architecture services for the new performing arts center serving Ballet Austin, the Austin Symphony Orchestra, Austin Lyric Opera, community theater companies, and traveling shows of all types. The center is located along Lady Bird Lake within Austin’s central park. Geometric patterns of walkways, trees, grasses, and groundcover were used to create a distinct identity for the center. Existing trees were moved into other areas of the park to create a dramatic skyline view. The design emphasizes landscape vistas of the urban skyline and creates a new outdoor public gathering place for special events.
